Amar’s passion for creating products that help people to live healthier, safer, and happier lives led him to join MC10 in 2012. His deep technical acumen combined with his understanding of broad technology markets makes him uniquely qualified to lead MC10′s marketing and strategy activities. His experience spans more than a decade of operating and executive leadership roles in the life-science industry, with a strong record of driving innovation in healthcare. Amar comes to MC10 from Arsenal Medical, a venture-backed medical device startup, where he defined the company’s lead program, a first-of-its-kind bioabsorbable stent to treat peripheral artery disease, a product that is now in clinical studies. Prior to this Amar worked with Guidant (acquired by Boston Scientific in 2006), where he led the product development of a key cardiac surgery tool from concept to market, for which he earned the 2006 Cardiac Surgery Innovator of the Year award. Amar earned his BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and he holds 5 issued patents with 6 pending.
